An actual update!

Right, so... It's been a while, eh?
Sometimes life gets in the way, and because of that I didn't have the ability to work on this site for a while.

For a list of all the changes it's best to just read the changelog, but I'll outline a few of the bigger things.

  • Added a Roadmap to the left side menu. I might need to update this a bit with the recent changes (particularly to EcoSim.eco).
  • By sensible request I also added my Discord ID to the footer.
  • Added an email address for contacting me to the About & FAQ page.
  • EcoSim Commander now works with version 0.8+ files. Plants, Animals, Seeds, Air Pollution and Trees are no longer editable in version 0.8+ files as it's been removed from the EcoSim.eco file.
  • Updates to both Network Control Tool and Difficulty Manager.

I actually had a pretty big update almost ready for EcoSim Commander allowing for more editing of various items (it required a bit of work to get working properly), but with the things using it being removed from the file, I won't be finishing it (unless ir proves useful for other things).

Naturally if you happen to run into any issues make sure to let me know so I can fix them.

That's it for now! Hopefully the next update won't take another year. ;)

Additions, improvements and a fix to EcoSim Commander

This update brings an important fix to EcoSim Commander which prevented changes made in Plants from being saved.

But wait, there's more! Trees and Animals have been added to EcoSim Commander as well.

You can check the full list of changes for this update in the changelog.

Oh yeah, that's another thing; I obviously created a changelog. :D

Website launched in beta state with the first set of tools

After writing many lines of code, I hereby present Viper's Eco Tools in its first beta form.

At this point there's 3 tools available: Difficulty Manager, Network Control Tool and EcoSim Commander. The latter is not complete and currently only offers the ability to change some aspects of EcoSim.eco, but more functionality will be added soon.

As you can see from the menu to the left there's already an icon for another tool, so you can expect more tools to follow. The goal is to make a complete set of tools for each of the server configuration files, at least the ones where it makes sense to do so.

I would also like to take this opportunity to ask for a bit of help. One of the goals with this website is to make these settings accessible to all players wanting to dig into the server configuration. This means that I have to explain what each setting does, as well as set input restrictions whenever possible, to prevent wrong values in the files that would prevent the server from starting, or create otherwise unwanted behaviour.
I have no way of trying to understand each setting, find the input restrictions for them and so on, which means I need the community's help in this regard. If you're aware of what a specific setting does, or the input restrictions of a setting, then it would be a tremendous help if you would let me know, so that I can add the information to the tools. People who contribute to the website can choose to be listed on the About & FAQ page.

As mentioned this site is in beta stage, so if you find any bugs or issues, please let me know so that I can fix it. Check the website footer to see how to get in touch with me.
On that note: If anyone is able to test the website in Safari on a Mac, and let me know if anything is not working or looks off, that would be a great help as well. Please make sure to test it in the newest version of Safari, as I won't be supporting old browsers.

So what lies ahead? More tools and expanding EcoSim Commander's functionality.
One of the features that I want to implement, which will be especially welcome in EcoSim Commander, is the ability to select multiple items that you want to modify, allowing you to set the value(s) across multiple items at the same time. This will include the ability to also set number values in a relative fashion, like adding 10 to each item's current value.

I guess that's it for now... I hope you will find these tools useful and easy to use!
